Privacy Notice

How MGN Legacy Funerals handles information you share with us.

Last updated: 24 September 2026

1. WHO WE ARE

MGN Legacy Funerals (company registration 2015/069967/07) handles personal information submitted through this website and used to administer funeral cover enquiries, policies and services. This notice explains the information used by this platform. The funeral policy's Terms and Conditions also include a POPIA and confidentiality clause.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you enquire, apply, contact us or use an account, we may collect your name, title, South African ID or passport details, date of birth, contact details, address, selected plan, family-member and beneficiary details, and documents you choose or are asked to provide. We also keep application and account status, policy, claim, payment and communication records. A person applying for family cover may give us information about the people they wish to cover.

The website uses a session cookie to keep sign-in and application steps working. An unfinished application draft is kept in the session for up to 15 minutes after the last change; uploaded documents must be selected again after a reload. If website analytics is configured, the site may also load Google analytics or tag-management services.

3. WHY WE USE IT

We use this information to respond to enquiries; review identity, eligibility and applications; administer cover, premiums and claims; provide funeral services; communicate account and claim updates; prevent fraud; keep records; and meet applicable legal or regulatory requirements. If you choose optional WhatsApp communication, we record that choice and use the number for the messages described at the point of consent. We do not treat an enquiry as active cover without the required review and confirmation.

The application needs the identity, contact and plan details marked as required. Missing information or supporting documents may prevent submission or delay review. Optional information is identified in the form.

4. WHO MAY RECEIVE IT

Authorised MGN staff and administrators use records for their work. Where needed for administration, communication, claims or funeral services, information may be shared with an authorised insurer or administrator and relevant service providers, such as communication, document, transport, mortuary or other funeral-service providers. Information may also be disclosed where required by law. We do not publish customer application, account or claim records on the public website.

5. STORAGE AND PROTECTION

Uploaded documents are stored outside the public website and are made available through access-controlled downloads. Account areas require sign-in; staff access is permission-controlled. MGN takes reasonable steps to protect records against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or loss.

The platform does not automatically erase submitted applications, accounts, claims or payment records after a fixed period. Retention and deletion requests are handled according to the record's purpose and applicable requirements. Contact MGN for information about a particular record or retention period.

6. YOUR CHOICES AND REQUESTS

You may ask whether MGN holds your personal information, request access, or ask for inaccurate information to be corrected. Where applicable, you may request deletion or object to processing. These requests are considered under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and other applicable obligations. Customers can update some contact details in the portal; staff control cover, premium, member, claim and payment decisions.

You can also withdraw optional WhatsApp communication by contacting MGN. Withdrawal does not undo messages already sent or processing needed for an existing application or policy.

7. CONTACT AND COMPLAINTS

Send privacy questions or requests to admin@mgnlegacy.co.za, call 087 164 3632, or write to Farm 12, Uitkyk 851KS, Nebo, Sekhukhune R579, 1059. Please provide enough information for MGN to identify the relevant record; identity may need to be verified before access or changes are made.

If your concern is not resolved with MGN, you may complain to South Africa's Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

8. CHANGES TO THIS NOTICE

MGN may update this notice when its services or information practices change. The date above identifies the version shown here.
